Hyundai Elantra is a front-wheel drive sedan of the compact segment (aka "C-class" by European standards), which is presented by the company itself as a "four-door coupe" with sporty habits, combining expressive design, beautiful and solid interior, as well as modern technical and technological "filling" ...

This three-volume is aimed, first of all, at energetic youth, “keeping pace with the times”, however, the target audience of the car is not limited only by these frames.

The world premiere of the most successful model in the history of the South Korean company - the seventh generation Hyundai Elantra - took place on March 18, 2020 as part of a global press conference held at The Lot Studios in West Hollywood, California and broadcast live during all countries of the world without exception.

Compared to its predecessor, the car has changed dramatically - it changed its image, reincarnated as a so-called "four-door coupe", received a completely redesigned and more spacious interior, "moved" to a new platform, significantly enlarged in size, replenished its functionality with a huge number of modern "lotions" "And for the first time in its history got a hybrid version.

The exterior of the “seventh” Hyundai Elantra is tailored in the brand's new family style called “sensual sportiness”, and we can confidently say that the four-door looks elegant, moderately aggressive, emotionally and fit. The predatory "physiognomy" of the car is crowned with a piercing look of headlights with "eyebrows" of running lights, a wide radiator grille of a multifaceted shape and a sculpted bumper, and its expressive stern demonstrates spectacular lanterns with a red stripe stretched from side to side and a "figured" bumper.

Well, the most advantageous sedan looks exactly in profile, since it is positioned as a “four-door coupe” with a long sloping hood, a rear compartment shifted back and a heavily littered rear window, smoothly “flowing” into a short “tail” of the luggage compartment, and many faces and junctions on the sides add elegance to its appearance.

In terms of its dimensions, the seventh generation Elantra is a representative of the compact segment: the four-door is 4650 mm long, 1825 mm wide, and does not exceed 1420 mm in height. The gap between the wheelsets is 2720 mm for the car.

Interior

Inside, the "seventh" Hyundai Elantra boasts a beautiful, stylish, modern and European-quality design with a visually highlighted driver's area, where the main emphasis is on two 10.25-inch displays placed under a single glass: the left one acts as a dashboard, and the right one concludes in itself infotainment functions.

The weighty four-spoke multi-steering wheel with the embossed rim and the laconic air conditioning unit also fit well into the interior. But it is worth noting that the standard set includes a "toolbox" with a pointer speedometer and a media center with an 8-inch screen and physical handles and buttons on the sides.

The compact sedan has a five-seater salon. The front riders here are given ergonomic seats with a well-defined side profile, wide adjustment intervals and heating. On the second row there is an optimally profiled sofa with three headrests and a folding armrest in the center, as well as a sufficient supply of free space.

The luggage compartment of the three-volume in its standard form is able to accommodate up to 474 liters of luggage (according to the VDA method), and its "cargo" potential can be increased due to the rear sofa foldable in two sections.

In a niche under the raised floor there is a dock and the necessary minimum of tools.

Specifications

For the seventh generation Hyundai Elantra in the Russian market, several gasoline units have been announced, which are combined exclusively with a 6-speed hydromechanical "automatic" and a front-wheel drive transmission:

  • The second is an atmospheric gasoline unit of the Smartstream family of 2.0 liters, made of aluminum, with a distributed "power supply" system, 16-valve timing and variable valve timing, which produces 150 hp. at 6200 rpm and 191 Nm of peak thrust at 4500 rpm.

Alternatively, a hybrid version is available in some countries for the sedan, which uses a direct-powered 1.6-liter GDI petrol engine, a 44-horsepower electric motor built into a 6-band twin-clutch robot, and a 1.32 lithium-ion battery. kW * hour. The total potential of the petrol-electric drive is 141 hp. and 264 Nm of torque. It is worth noting that although such a car can run on pure electric traction, it cannot be recharged from a regular outlet.

Speed, dynamics and consumption

The maximum capabilities of the car do not exceed 195-203 km / h, while it accelerates to the "first" hundred after 9.8-11.3 seconds.

In the combined cycle, the four-door on average consumes from 6.9 to 7 liters of fuel for every 100 km, depending on the version.

Design features

The seventh "release" of the Hyundai Elantra is based on a third-generation front-wheel drive "bogie" K3 with a transverse powertrain and a load-bearing body structure, which is abundantly composed of high-strength types of steel.

On the front axle of the car, an independent suspension of the MacPherson type is used, while at the rear it has a semi-independent system with a twisting beam (but in both cases - with anti-roll bars). However, it should be noted that the hybrid version has an independent multi-link rear suspension.

By default, the sedan is equipped with a rack and pinion steering system with an integrated electric power steering. All wheels of the four-door are equipped with disc brakes (ventilated at the front), which work together with ABS, EBD and other modern electronics.
