The car market does not stand still, which forces manufacturers to periodically improve their products - so Volkswagen decided in the seventh year of its life to update the popular mid-size pickup Amarok so that it could adequately compete with eminent "classmates".

The car, presented to the general public at the beginning of May 2016, not only refreshed its appearance, but also acquired a number of serious technical changes, and also replenished its arsenal with a large number of modern systems.

Externally, the restyled Volkswagen Amarok, in comparison with the pre-reform model, has changed minimally - it only corrected the optics, radiator grille and bumpers. However, due to the changes made, the car began to look fresher, more attractive and more interesting.

The German truck is still available with two cab types - a four-door Double Cab and a two-door Single Cab.

As for the overall dimensions, they most likely remained the same and are 5181-5254 mm long, 1944 mm wide and 1820-1834 mm high with a 3095 mm wheelbase.

The interior of the updated version of the Volkswagen Amarok has changed beyond recognition - it not only tried on a radically changed architecture of the front panel, but also got better materials. The interior of the pickup truck looks modern and frankly rich - a stylish console in the center with a multimedia center screen and a verified "climate" block, a clear "dashboard" of instruments and a three-spoke multi-steering wheel (although in the basic versions everything is much more utilitarian).

After the modernization, no changes happened to the passenger capabilities of the Amarok, but the level of comfort increased significantly, especially in the "top" versions - leather seats with electric adjustment in 14 directions and heating are available for the car.

But the carrying capacity and maximum weight of the trailer due to the new engines have slightly increased.

Specifications. The restyled Volkswagen Amarok has undergone a total revision of the power palette - from now on the mid-size pickup is equipped with a 3.0-liter TDI diesel engine with six V-shaped "pots", turbocharging and direct fuel supply technology.
Three levels of boost are provided for it - 163, 204 and 224 horsepower (the output of the most productive version is 550 Nm of torque).

By default, the Amarok is provided with a rear-wheel drive transmission, and two options for all-wheel drive are optionally offered: cars with a 6-speed "mechanics" have a rigidly activated front axle and a reduction gear, and versions with an 8-band "automatic" are accompanied by permanent all-wheel drive with center differential Torsen, but without "lowering".

The Volkswagen Amarok, which survived the restyling, has become much more dynamic than its predecessor - the "top" modification, for example, is capable of accelerating to 193 km / h and gaining the first "hundred" after 7.9 seconds (data for less powerful options are not yet given).

Structurally, the car copies the pre-reform "truck". It is based on a spar frame with an independent double wishbone system at the front and an oversized axle at the rear, hydraulic power steering, ventilated front "pancakes" and drum rear brakes with electronic "additions".

Options and prices. The restyled Volkswagen Amarok of the 2016-2017 model year is offered to Russian buyers in the Trendline, Comfortline, Highline and Aventura trim levels at a price of 2,131,200 rubles (however, while the pickup is delivered to our country with old turbodiesel "fours", and "V6 3.0 TDI" from it will appear only in the second quarter of 2017). The initial configuration of the "German" includes air conditioning, heated front seats, two airbags, an audio system with four speakers, ESP, ABS, HAS, EBS, EDL, ASR and steel wheel rims.
For the Comfortline configuration, dealers ask from 2,375,300 rubles, for the Highline - from 2,700,000 rubles, and for the Aventura - from 3,525,500 rubles. The most "sophisticated" car is equipped with a two-zone "climate", fog lights, 20-inch alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlights, front seats with electrically adjustable parking sensors "in a circle", leather interior and electric folding mirrors. In addition, such a "truck" can boast of a modern multimedia complex with navigation, rear-view camera and voice control.
