Russian motorists were able to get acquainted with the Chinese compact five-door hatchback FAW V2 at MIAS 2012, but, of course, only those who managed to attend the auto show. For car enthusiasts who were not lucky enough to visit the Moscow Motor Show in August-September 2012, and for all other readers, we offer an overview of the new car market from FAW, the start of sales of which will take place this year.
The compact FAW V2 hatchback with its external dimensions: length - 3760 mm, width - 1680 mm, height - 1530 mm, wheelbase - 2450 mm and ground clearance of 143 mm, is perhaps an overgrowth of the European A-class and will be located on the border with older class-B.
When developing the external appearance of the V2, Chinese designers without a shadow of a doubt copied the front end from the Japanese Suzuki Swift hatchback model of 2005. Then they added a few bright strokes in the form of embossings on the bumper and hood, body sidewalls. And here we have another "masterpiece" of auto design. We will not judge strictly, they do as they can, especially since the leaders of the world auto industry are well aware of plagiarism even without us, but ... the millions of sales of new branded cars in China now and the possibility of increasing them in the future make us turn a blind eye to these "pranks".
Let's take a look at a Chinese car through the eyes of a potential buyer, without looking at the Swift. The front part of a compact hatchback with a "nose" formed by the characteristic ribs of the sloping bonnet, which go into the embossing of a large bumper with an additional air intake and foglights. Headlights with sharp edges are located on the ledges of the roundness of the wheel arches, stylishly merging into the side surfaces of the body. The profile of a car with stamped wheel arches visually expanding the compact, a fashionable edge at the level of door handles, a high sill line, a flat roof and large doorways for a car of this size.
The rear of the five-door hatchback FAV B2 is designed in the traditional vein of the bulk of compact two-volume boosters: a tailgate, a simple bumper with fog lights, overall lighting equipment, though with LED lamps, even a spoiler over the rear door glass is present. Simple, but tasteful, it turned out to arrange the packaging of the body. According to the manufacturer, the car is designed to carry five passengers and 320 liters of cargo. The car is equipped with 175 / 65R14 tires on iron or light-alloy wheels.
The FAV V2 salon meets with budget finishing materials: sonorous plastics of a two-color combination, decorative inserts for metal. Let's sit in the driver's seat - a hard-padded seat for skinny owners (lateral support rollers impede movement), a three-spoke steering wheel with a slippery rim, instruments in three wells (glasses glare, impairing information content). A simple radio tape recorder and an air conditioning control unit are located on the center console. Let's see how the passengers in the second row of a compact car settled down there. As you might expect, the second row is designed for two, which is eloquently indicated by two head restraints and a lack of space. The knees are in contact with the backs of the front seats, the width of the two is just right, there is nowhere to put the third passenger. The rear row seats can be folded down, while significantly increasing the volume of the trunk. The Chinese manufacturer focuses on excellent interior sound insulation and a reinforced body made of high-strength steel.
The Chinese FAV B2 hatchback will be offered to Russian buyers in two trim levels - Comfortable and Deluxe. The initial version contains front and rear foglights, LED side lights, air conditioning, central locking with remote control, power steering, four power windows, electric mirrors with repeaters, radio (radio, MP3, two speakers), ABS with EBD. In a more saturated configuration FAW V2 will add front airbags for the driver and passenger, seat belt pretensioners, alloy wheels, CD MP3 music with USB input.
Specifications. The car is equipped with only one gasoline engine (model CA4GA1) 1.3-liter 16 valve (91 hp) with 5 manual gearboxes. The motor will provide the FAV B2 hatchback with a curb weight of 980 kg and a maximum speed of 166 km / h. According to the manufacturer, fuel consumption in mixed mode (highway - city) is 4.67 liters per 100 kilometers. The compact has an advanced, like for a small car, multi-link rear suspension, traditional MacPherson struts in front. Front disc brakes, rear drum brakes.
Prices and equipment. In Russia, this car will be offered in three trim levels: Comfortable, Comfortable Plus and Delux. Already in the base, the FAW V2 is equipped with ABS, air conditioning, four power windows, an audio system, and electric mirrors.
In 2015, the dealer set a price of 470,000 rubles for the FAW V2 Comfortable hatchback, the Comfortable Plus is 20,000 rubles more expensive, and the price of the V2 Deluxe is just over half a million - from 503,000 rubles.
