In 2004, the French company Citroen officially demonstrated the updated version of the first generation C5, which received the index "II" to the name. But the changes were not limited to this - the car was refreshed in appearance, the interior decoration was improved, the list of equipment was expanded and the technical component was modernized.

The five-door stood on the conveyor until 2008, after which it gave way to a second generation model.

The "first" Citroen C5 II is a mid-size car in the D-class according to the European classification, the body palette of which combines five-door liftback and station wagon solutions.

Depending on the modification, the length of the "Frenchman" is 4745-4839 mm, the height is 1476-1511 mm, and the width and size of the wheelbase are 1780 mm and 2750 mm, respectively.

As standard, the machine is equipped with a hydropneumatic chassis that changes ground clearance in the range from 145 to 200 mm.

Specifications. The engine compartment of the restyled C5 of the first generation was filled with both gasoline and diesel engines.

  • The first included in-line four-cylinder and V-shaped six-cylinder units with a volume of 1.7-2.9 liters, generating from 116 to 210 "horses" and from 160 to 285 Nm of torque.
  • Among the latter, there were turbocharged "fours" for 1.6-2.2 liters, the performance of which totaled 109-170 horsepower and 240-400 Nm of maximum torque.

The motors were coupled with a 5- or 6-speed “mechanics”, or a 4- or 6-range “automatic”, as well as a non-alternative drive to the front axle.

Citroen C5 II is based on the front-wheel drive architecture "PF3" with a longitudinally mounted power plant and an independent chassis "in a circle" (front - McPherson struts, rear - multi-link).
As standard, the car is equipped with a hydropneumatic suspension Hydractive III and a rack and pinion steering gear with power steering.
Each of the French's four wheels accommodates disc brakes (ventilated on the front axle) with ABS, EBD and BAS.

The "first" Citroen C5 with the "II" index is distinguished by a roomy interior, large trunk, comfortable suspension with adjustable ground clearance, rich basic equipment, good dynamics and fuel efficiency, as well as reasonable cost.
The advantages are countered by rapid loss of value, large turning radius and costly maintenance.
